2026-2027 Important Information

Welcome back! The RMHS Athletic Department is excited for the 1st Edition of the Vikings Sports Report, your monthly newsletter for all your Rockport High School Athletics news. Since started on August 24th for preseason, it has been very clear that all of our student athletes have been working hard on and off the field. We are looking forward to seeing all of our student athletes compete this upcoming fall season!

Our focus in the athletic department for the upcoming school year is going to be Pound the Stone. This is based on a book by Joshua Medcalf. Our goal is to reinforce this topic throughout our teams and school community. Please see more information below.

We are excited to also to support some new initiatives as well that include but are not limited to: Student Athlete of the Month, Unity Day, Coaches/Teachers/Officials Appreciation Days, MIAA Student Ambassadors, Leadership Council and much more!

Sportsmanship Statement

The goal is to create a positive and supportive environment with a strong emphasis on sportsmanship. Athletics provide a great opportunity to understand adversity, deal with difficult situations, and the joys of healthy competition. We are aware that there will be times when an official makes a controversial call or there is a play that could have been handled differently, but ultimately it is the responsibility of the spectators to handle these situations in a sportsmanlike and understanding manner. Be a role model for others. A negative reaction will not change the outcome but rather will create a negative environment that detract from the student athletes and all their hard work.

There is an expectation that all spectators at athletic events act in a sportsmanlike manner at all times. This includes both students and adults. There is a zero tolerance policy for berating officials, foul language, and disrespect for game administrators. Additionally, spectators should not call out the numbers or names of anyone on the opposing team. We ask that each individual in attendance positively cheer on their own team. If a game official or game administrator determines that a spectator in attendance at an athletic event is not adhering to the expectations provided above, that individual will be asked to leave.

We appreciate all of our spectators and their support for our athletic programs. It is truly a pleasure to see the enthusiasm and passion for our student athletes. Go Vikings!

New Athletic Trainer

We are so excited to welcome Chris Mailhiot to Rockport Middle High School as the Athletic Trainer. Chris has been a Certified Athletic Trainer for 14 years. Most recently, he served as the Athletic Trainer at Winthrop High School for nine years. Throughout his career, Chris has have worked in a variety of settings, including high school, collegiate, industrial, and youth sports. His favorite part of being an athletic trainer is building meaningful relationships with athletes and helping them achieve their goals both on and off the field.

Chris graduated from Winthrop High School in 2007 and earned his degree from Colby-Sawyer College in 2012. He currently live in Newburyport with my wife and twin boys. We are thrilled to have Chris join RMHS and look forward to having him provide the high-quality care, support, and guidance that our student-athletes deserve.
Pound the Stone

Pound the Stone

Success is not a single event. It is the culmination of the hard work that is done when no one is watching. We are not chasing instant results. We will master daily execution because we know that relentless consistency outweighs motivation when striving for a positive outcome.

TRUST THE PROCESS. GRIT OVER TALENT. POUND THE STONE.
