Viking Weekly News

September 14, 2026
Dear RMHS Families,

It has been a fantastic week, with weather to support the array of athletic and outdoor activities Fall brings 🍂🍁. The students continue to bring positive energy and ideas to the new systems and opportunities available to them.

There are quite a few changes in our office team this year. Please review the 'Meet the Team' image below for more details on the newest members of our team, as well as contact information for counselors, office, nurse, and administrative personnel you may need to contact throughout the year.

Most recently, we are excited to welcome Maryann Aiello to our team starting Monday, September 14th. Maryann comes to us from O'Maley School, bringing many years of classroom experience as a paraprofessional, as well as valuable office experience from her work as an administrative assistant in the summer special education program. We are thrilled to have her join our team!

Please join me in thanking Connie Lucido for her six years of dedicated service to the Middle High School. We are grateful for all she has contributed to our school community. She will certainly be missed by all of us.

Here's to a great week ahead! 😎

-Ms. Rose

Why Attendance Matters

Being in school and on time is extremely important to your child's success. When students attend school regularly and arrive on time, they stay engaged in their learning, build strong relationships, and develop solid study habits. We appreciate your partnership with this and encourage frequent communication if there are obstacles that exist throughout the year.

The cafeteria and library are open at 7:00 am and free breakfast is available for all students. The main hallways and classrooms open at 7:25 am.

RMHS Student Technology Use Update

In accordance with the recent Massachusetts legislation banning cell phones in schools, the Rockport Public Schools adopted a new cell phone policy and technology requirements for the 2026-2027 school year. All students will be provided with school-issued devices that they are expected to use throughout the year. Students should not bring personal computers to school. Chromebooks (students 6-8) or MacBook Neos (students 9-12) will be issued to all students over the first few days of school.

RMHS Cell-Phone Specific Expectations & Procedures:
  • Students are encouraged to leave their devices at home.
  • At the start of the school day, students must place their device(s) in the school-provided pouch as instructed by their first block teacher.
  • At the conclusion of the school day, students will regain access to their device(s) by using the magnets mounted in each classroom.
